T-Engine Forum

TRON Enableware Symposium 2008 (TEPS2008) was held at Hall B5 in Tokyo International Forum on December 15 (Sat.), 2007. The theme of this year's event was "Universal Design of Location Information Systems". Professor Sakamura, Chair of T-Engine Forum, gave the keynote speech entitled "The Current Status and Future Prospect of Free Mobility Assistance Projects", regarding reviews of experimental results of free mobility assistance projects conducted across the country. In addition, a panel session "Universal Design of Free Mobility Assistance Services and Systems" was held, in which visitors with disabilities, in addition to the panelists, participated in the discussion.

TRONSHOW2008 Successfully Closed
T-Engine Forum

TRONSHOW2008 was held from December 12 (Wed.) to 14 (Fri.), 2007 at Tokyo International Forum in Yurakucho, Tokyo. The venue was divided into two areas which are colored in red and yellow, respectively. The red area was for "Next-Generation Real-Time System Technologies Exhibition" which showcased the technology centered around T-Engine and T-Kernel. In the yellow area, "Ubiquitous Computing International Symposium" was held, which introduced the basics and applications of ubiquitous computing. Panels to illustrate the details of the concerned technologies were exhibited in each area. Organizers and exhibitors presented their exhibitions as well, which attracted visitors" attention. Also, exhibitions by overseas participants mainly from Asia and Oceania, a pavilion to showcase activities of the government, and a room for a practice exam of "TRON Engineer Certification Examination", which is scheduled to be administered in FY2008, were established. Each day the venue was packed with visitors from the opening until the closing time. The keynote speech "TRON Project 2008" by Professor Sakamura, Chair of T-Engine Forum, and various other panel sessions and seminars were held including the ones entitled "u-City", "200-year House Project", "Embedded Development at the Forefront" etc.

Exhibition at Regional ICT Future Festa in AOMORI
YRP Ubiquitous Networking Laboratory

YRP Ubiquitous Networking Laboratory exhibited at "Regional ICT Future Festa 2007 in AOMORI" which was held mainly at "Aoimori Arena" in Aomori City from October 12 (Fri.) to 14 (Sun.). This year, panels to introduce research details mainly on UWB Active Tag II were presented in the exhibition booth of Tohoku Bureau of Telecommunications of Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. Also at the exhibition site, visitors were encouraged to participate in the demonstration of free mobility assistance in Yuki-Navi Aomori Project using a cane that supports UCs and reads the IC tag embedded in textured pavement blocks, and to use the service of explaining art works using a UC in Aomori Museum of Art.

Printed Electronics Asia conference information

Printed Electronics Asia was held on September 10 and 11 at the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Chinzan-so (Sekiguchi, Bunkyo-ku). This was the first time for the event to be held in Asia, the previous six being either in Europe or the US. Ubiquitous ID Center Chair Ken Sakamura spoke at the conference on September 11.
